July Braces Update!

When my orthodontist insisted on me wear my rubberbands on my braces this way, I simply looked at him and asked him,
"Are you serious?! How do you expect me to open my mouth?"

I had to wear rubberbands on both sides of my mouth. You wouldn't believe how many times I got popped in the mouth by the rubberbands that month. It hurt pretty bad too.

Straight Hair!

I decided to straighten my hair for the 4th of July and I was quite amazed. It has really been growing vibrantly. I'm looking forward to straightening my hair the anniversary day of my big chop on 11-11-12. I think I may end up straightening my hair before that. Anyways, I flat ironed my hair and rolled it with a few sponge rollers. After partying and walking around town, just 2 hours later, my hair was a frizz ball mess. I enjoyed it while it lasted though.

GHD!

Good Hair Days! Yep, I was having an outstanding hair days on these days and I had to share em with you all. You can see the date on each photo and gather that I'm super late, but hey, it's better late than never. I just really liked my hair these days. I created photo 1-2 by doing my braided two strand twists, and then untwisting the twists to make a twist out. So essentially, it's really a braided twist out. Photo 3-4 is simply the same braided twists. There is one braid in the front and one braid on the side leading to a pony tail in the back.

Sister's Birthday!

The family and I decided to go out for dinner to celebrate my sister's birthday. We had a blast just laughing and talking about everyday life. We decided to go to Happy Mexican to and the food was pretty good. The workers actually sang to my sis....but unfortunately I didn't get that footage because I left my cam in the car :-(
They offered her tequila shots for her birthday, but of course the birthday girl had to turn it down because she's not quite of age just yet. I would've gladly taken them lol....jk

The parents!
The Birthday Girl!
Me!
The siblings!
She is actually squatting down to my size lol...smh

All Versatile All Naturale

So...of course I'm late in posting about my hair as with everything else. I've been natural for almost 7 months now and so I decided to do a blow out last month for my 6 month anniversary of doing the chop. Of course I didn't post a video or make a blog post because I was overwhelmed with the crap going on in my life....smh. But here are a few photos that I took. It's weird but, I decided to do a blow out and wear my hear out for a week. I felt so weird and uncomfortable with my hair out. I was kinda confused as to how to wear my hair and I just didn't feel like my normal self. It was just a weird feeling lol. I actually tried doing a puff as well and that was fun while it lasted. I finally decided to put some braided two strand twists in my hair again, hence the blow out. Seems like I've really been doing the twists alot lately.... I will be posting the video on youtube as well.

LOOK!! My underbite is just about gone. I'm so happy with the progress of my teeth. I'm also happy that I finally decided to get those 4 teeth pulled, even though it's taking forever to close the spaces left in my mouth from the extractions. I can't wait to see the end result.

28lbs lighter....But Don't see a Difference?!?

I'm not sure if I really see a difference, but ok....I'm 28lbs lighter

OPERATION FIX THAT FAT UPDATE! Success!

First, I'M SO SORRY for such a late update on everything going on in my life. I know how everyone hates to hear how busy other people are so I won't bother boring you with all of that. So, straight to the point.
DEDICATION + DISCIPLINE + DETERMINATION= SUCCESS!
I have finally reached my goal weight for the military. I went from 192lbs to 164lbs. I am so proud of myself for doing so well on this weight loss journey. To be honest, it wasn't that difficult losing the weight. I don't even know why I waited so long to lose the weight. I basically set a goal and a plan.
1. Calorie Counter (caloriecount.about.com)- This website is awesome for people trying to lose weight. Now, initially, I was kinda against counting calories because I thought it was a waste of time and just took up too much time and effort, but after visiting this site I realized how wrong I was. This site makes the whole process quick and simple. It allows you to set realistic goals and guides you along the way. It also grades you based on the meals that you consume and your workouts. CalorieCount is a really cool website, and I really like that they have a huge community that will support you throughout your weight loss journey. I allowed myself to consume 1200 calories a day...maybe a lil more on some days, but I balanced exercise and diet to meet my goals. If you wanna add me as a friend/supporter my name is queque1 on the site.
2. Exercise- I'm not going to pretend like I didn't exercise, but I didn't exercise as much as you would think. I actually got a gym membership and a personal trainer. She developed a lifting and cardio plan for me, but she was later fired due to her unwillingness to further assist after the first meeting. The plan involved me doing cardio workouts along with minimum weight lifting. I still kinda follow her plan, but I sorta changed it up a bit. I work out 3-5 days a week. I did a mixture of p90x, Insanity, Cardio machines, free weight machines, taebo, and running.
3. Diet- I did change my diet to an extent and also didn't forget to treat myself lol. When I first started this plan, I was a little more strict on myself. I did not eat out at fast food restaurants PERIOD! I did go to restaurants on occasion, but before purchasing or ordering anything I checked out the nutrition menu on the restaurant's site. I would not order anything that exceeded 700 calories in one meal. Anything more than that would be exceeding the amount that my body needed. The rest of the calories would be stored as fat. I did consume wine (1 glass) during dinner to help with digestion on some days. Other than that, i only allowed myself to drink water and a little tea. As of now, I do eat fast food on occasion, but I'm slowly nipping that in the bud. I still have the same 1200 calorie policy, so if I eat a meal that I feel is of high caloric, I may not eat anything for the rest of the day. As far as treats go, I do indulge on frozen yogurt and skittles every now in then, if I feel like i'm doing well. This plan eventually has allowed me to train myself not to overeat and to live healthier. I do drink a alot of water and I try my best to eat more green vegetables. I love working out and seeing the results and I am so happy that I have reached this point. Now my goal is to lose 20lbs to get to my ultimate goal of 145lbs. I hope to never allow myself to get this overweight again. It's not cute and it's not healthy.

Two Strand Twists

It's been 5 months since I did the transition chop (big chop). I'm so excited about the progress and changes in my hair. My hair has grown quite a bit and I can't wait to see just how long it can grow. I recently took down my yarn braids and put up some two strand twists. Initially I thought that my twists were cool, but after wetting them I realized just how FABuLOUS they actually were lol. I love these things. I may keep them in for about 3wks. Here's some pics:

A Night with the Fam!

It's been a minute since the fam and I went out for dinner. My sister was the only one missing in action, but everyone else was there. We ate at Happy Mexican and the food was delish!

The Memphis Grizzlies are on FIRE!

I went to the Grizzlies game the other day. I was quite astonished at how great the team was played. I have attended many games in the past, but never have I attended where they actually won. Lately they have really been on fire. They have beating teams left to right. They just beat the Lakers, Mavericks, and the Heat. They are playing hard and that's what I love.

The Grizzlies played and won against the Los Angeles Clippers on this occasion. The last Grizzlies game that I attended was about 2 years ago and they actually played the same team. They lost of course, but it seems that they have really worked on their game. I couldn't believe how well they did. I was so thrilled and proud. They are actually making Memphis look great. I hope they make it to the championship. I attended the game with one of my besties and his coworkers.

Admiring my Life...

I feel so blessed. Sometimes things don't always go as planned in life, but that's ok. I'm happy to be alive and well. The lord has blessed me so much and I'm incredibly thankful. If you haven't smiled today, smile for God's grace.
Hebrews 13:5
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, Never will I leave you; Never will I forsake you.

HAIR IS DISGUSTING!

First, this pic is hilarious, especially since I had the same face the other day.
So, I'm not going to be super trashy and throw the restaurant's name out there, mainly because this is a new establishment, and because I know that they are trying, but I have to share the tea. So, I went out with an organization to a local Jamaican restaurant in my city. I arrived 30mins late, so when I arrived, everyone had already ordered their drinks and appetizers. I ordered some water while I glanced at the menu. Though the menu looked tasty I was quite disturbed after the waiter sat my glass of water on the table. I was putting my straw in the glass, when I saw a long, red, curly strand of hair sitting on the ice in my water. OH NO! I can't drink this. I gave the water to the owner and she quickly gave me another glass of water. Then she makes the mistake of saying, "You know it wasn't my hair." I looked at her and was like, "Well you know it wasn't my hair either, or anyone sitting at my table for that matter." I excused the matter and continued talking to the group of people sitting with my table. I didn't feel like eating anything with jerk in it, so I decided to order some salmon cakes. Oh, the food looked absolutely delicious when I saw it.
So I dive straight in. First bite, absolutely scrumptious. Second bite, PROBLEM!!! Well, I didn't get to the second bite of food because there was a freakin strand of hair in my food. DISGUSTED AND ANNOYED by this point. I stopped eating and was so over it. They must've had some pretty hairy people working in the kitchen. I returned the food to the waiter and she apologized for it. She along with the owner asked me if I wanted something else, and I refused. I lost my appetite. I could not believe that I hair in both my water and my food. This makes me want to stay on my diet and not ever go to restaurants again. Although it was a nice gesture that the restaurant owners gave the table a slice of dessert on the house, I was still unhappy. I told the organization that I would never eat at that restaurant again. UGH!
